Dave Lohrey has been a professional trainer of performance horses for over 30 years. He has worked with many equine disciplines specializing in Halter, Reining, Western Pleasure, Barrel Racing, and Cowboy Mounted Shooting. He is the former president of Central Carolina Western Horseman Association. He is the current president of the Double L Bar Shooters club in North Carolina. Dave has trained winning exhibitors and horses at the AQHA World, APHA World, and Pinto World Championships. He has also trained CMSA and NBHA world qualifiers as well as top futurity horses. He has gained respect of fellow trainers, riders, and competitors as a trainer and a friend.
The love and interest of training horses began when Dave was young helping his father with work horses in Wisconsin. His natural ability to ride lead him to over ten years competing as a professional bull rider. During this time, he apprenticed as a horse trainer under Jim Fuller and Craig Johnson in Texas. Dave has been training at his own facility in Franklinton, NC since 1997.
He offers starting, training, and fine-tuning horses of all disciplines. His natural ability to determine what the horses need allow horses to excel and learn under his guidance. He has a soft hand with clear cues and patient mind. He has talent in the saddle and naturally maintains control while giving the horse confident guidance. Horses respond rapidly to him and progress to a better equine partner without the use of harsh aids and training methods. He uses his talent to maximize a horse and bring out the best ability the horse has to offer. A horse’s ability to stop, turn, rate, and work softly with the rider are top priority. He believes in hard work to keep horses at their peak performance mentally and physically. Dave’s program is structured to fit each rider and horse based on their individual needs. His ability to adjust to the varying needs allow for a positive relationship between horse and rider. This relationship will provide long term partnership between horse and rider and a competitive edge of all disciplines.
Pamela Lohrey has been instructing and training professionally for 8 years. She offers balance, softness, and body control to the horse for fine tuning. Pam has a background in Animal Science and Agricultural Business from University of Wyoming as well as many years working in the veterinary field. In 2011 she received her certified as an equine sports massage therapist. This background emphasizes her focus on the horse as a whole. She focuses on the motion of the horse in relation to the body position, alignment, condition, control, collection and balance. Correct form and carriage of the body lead to a softer response and handle for any discipline. This can be obtained through releasing tension in the body through massage. Under saddle, this is obtained through removing resistance in all areas of the horse using natural pressure and release methods - no harsh training aids or correction. Horses of all riding levels and disciplines benefit from these methods. Pam brings the horse to a more complete experience for the horse and rider - less anxiety, softer control, smooth gaits, and correct balance in the whole body and mind of the horse.
She offers lessons to riders that focus on gaining this control and maximizing their riding experience. She has studied Dave's natural techniques and skills for hours and has brought them to a teachable level along with structured routines. This training level provides more confidence and control to riders of all levels. Beginners to advanced riders, there is always something to learn and excel rapidly. Why ride an average horse on an average level. Pam can bring out the best of your horse and show you how to maximize your equitation experience. Horsemanship on a whole new level.
We believe in God, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and The Holy Spirit. We believe in freedom and are grateful for those that defend our rights. We believe the relationship with a horse is built from the inside out. We believe in kindness and goodness. We believe in you.
